What to do after you get engaged

First of all, take a deep breath. I assume that you have screamed it from the top of Indy’s highest point and plastered it all over Facebook. Everyone is hopefully excited for you so sit down, relax, and enjoy it. So many times does a bride run out the next day and buy every magazine she can , if you haven’t before you had the ring, and starts calling vendors. Slow down and read the following before your wedding ship begins to sink. Avoid knee jerk reactions to avoid disagreements with your fiance and family.

Discuss your wedding with your fiancé:
Lay out your expectations and dreams without the input of anyone else first and make sure that you are both on the same page. Be open to discussion. There is reality and then there is fairy tale.

Discuss your plans with whoever is financially responsible:
Set an initial budget keeping in mind it can always be altered. Create a draft guest list- this will allow you to estimate how many guests you can expect to pay for.

Contact a wedding coordinator:
You will be surprised how much the experience and vendor relationships will benefit you emotionally and financially. Initial consultations are free to see how much the service will cost, so there is no obligation.

Utilize local bridal shows and magazines for vendors and locations:
Indianapolis Perfect Wedding Guide Magazine or online Bridal Shows- Scottish Rite Cathedral, Allsionville Nursery, Convention Center

Good Luck and Happy Planning.
