A couple Fridays ago, I spent the day searching for a venue downtown for a new client of ours. Â We are always up for a challenge here at JA Alexandra and get very excited when a bride walks in the door needing help from the beginning to end. Â We absolutely love what we do and can’t help but want to be involved in almost every aspect of the planning. Â As a bonus, it’s a Christmas wedding and it has been on our list of weddings to do! Â With only a mere six months to plan a wedding, finding a venue was an immediate concern.

Fortunately, it’s not an overly popular wedding season just yet so there were more options than usual. Â Our venture led us to the Indiana State Museum. Â It was as if the wedding Gods said to go here even though you do not have an appointment!!! Â My immediate impression is generally based on the staff and I was not disappointed. Â So here’s a little information about having a wedding at the museum and then a sample budget based off of my current client.

Located in the White River State Gardens, the Indiana State Museum is an architectural beauty. Â With the multiple spaces available to rent ,or the entire museum if your budget is deep enough, you can host a very intimate event or reception for over 2,000 guests. Â The museum is probably most known for The Govenor Frank O’Bannon Great Hall that is home to the beloved “Indiana” sculpture. Â And of course, there is a beautiful space outside for your ceremony. Â

Our bride and groom will be married in the Canal Overlook Bridge then there guest’s will move into the Rapp Reception Hall for cocktails on the second level. Â The newlyweds will then join their guests for dinner and dancing in O’Bannon Great Hall on the main level. Maybe Santa will join them for cake!!!Â
